Plus Points: There was lots to do at Benalmadena which meant we didn't need to travel far. For example the marina, dolphin park, tivoli world theme park, and many shops, restaurants and bars. The promenade was always kept very clean and it was safe for our young daughter to run around as it was away from any traffic.
Negative Points: There was a very busy road going through the resort and cars didn't always stop at the crossings to let you cross. There was a subway but there were stairs and no ramp which meant we had to carry our daughter's pushchair down lots of stairs.

Plus Points: Friendly place, lots of restaurants to choose from, lots of bars, easy walk to beach or town. Great choice of food, and entertainment whether quiet drink or lively cabaret.
Negative Points: The Church Bell ringing out 1/4, 1/2 hours.
The constant flow of persons selling tat - especially bothering us when eating in restaurants

Plus Points: Benalmadena was superb - we were on a stag holiday (trying our best not to be "that group of lads" that spoiled everyone's holidays... and I think we pulled it off ok!). The somewhat misleading named "24hour square" kept us well oiled through the night (it closed at about 7am... but that was just in time for breakfast! woo!). I must also mention Buzbys (or Busbys) Karaoke Bar, and the Alien Bar for keeping us entertained for the 4 nights we were there! The Puerto Benalmadena hotel, rooms, staff, restaurant, pool, games room were all fantastic - we had the bar staff teaching us Spanish, and the desk staff laughing at us rolling in from the bars at 7am going straight to breakfast! The staff are a real credit to the hotel! Food was slightly limited in choice, but varied by the day and tasted great!
Negative Points: It being October, most of the bar-goers (particularly on Friday/Saturday nights) were local. We were kindly warned by the bar staff to make sure we don't bring too much attention to ourselves as the local male population has a reputation at that time of year for marking their territory!! Except for one fairly minor incident which highlighted the locals' potential hostility we didn't encounter any trouble - mainly by keeping ourselves to ourselves and establishing trust with the bar staff. We were a group of professional english 20-somethings just wanting to enjoy ourselves, but we realised that we were a potential target for trouble if we stepped out of line or had a bit too much fun!

Plus Points: Having just returned from The Holiday Village in Benalmadena, I felt that I had to say what a fantastic place it is. It is the best holiday resort I have been to for children. The accommodation was first class, entertainment for the children was fantastic and the food and restaurant was first class.
Negative Points: A little bit out of the way for the beach. Could not find the stairs to get down to beach. Went into Fuengerola to shop and found that the beach there was excellent. Only cost about 12/13 euros by taxi, which the hotel booked for us. Very friendly drivers.
